  • Brown Soft Fabric for the Turkey Body
  • Lots of Ribbon and Rick-rack in Fall Colors for the Turkey Feathers
  • Brown Ribbon for the Turkey Legs and Wings
  • White, Black, gold, and red fabric Scraps
  • Quilt Batting Scraps (warm & natural is our favorite)
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

Thanksgiving Ribbon Pull Softie Turkey Toy – Step 1

The first thing you are going to do is pin and cut out your turkey pattern. Please feel free to use our free Thanksgiving Softie Turkey Pattern! You are going to want to fold your fabric in half so that you get two pieces when you cut it out. Place your quilt batting under your fabric when you cut so that you only have to cut once and you get all your pieces. That two turkeys from fabric and one from quilt batting.

Now you are going to pick one of your fabric pieces to be the front of your turkey. You want to cut out two eyes, a nose, and a gobbler for your turkey. Then pin them in place for how you would like your turkey’s face to look. Zig-zag stitch around each of your facial features.

Next you are going to add some little wings and legs to your turkey! Using brown ribbon cut six 4.5″ pieces of ribbon. Fold each piece in half and pin the raw edges to the raw edges of the turkey front as shown. Stitch at raw edge to hold in place.

Now let’s give the cute little turkey some colorful feathers! Cut 4.5″ pieces of fall color ribbons and rick-rack. Fold and pin in place on top of the head the same way you did the legs and wings. Stitch in place on raw edge.

Sew your front to back pretty sides together

Next place the quilt batting turkey piece on the table, then place the two turkey pieces PRETTY SIDES together and pin around the turkey as shown. Sew around the turkey 1/4″ along the edge making sure to leaving a 4″ opening for turning.

Finally trim all your edges making sure not to cut your stitches. Then turn your turkey pretty sides out and hand sew close the opening you left. Top stitch around the eyes, nose, and gobbler. Quilt the turkey body as desired.
