Directions for this cute m&m Halloween costume for your American girl doll also include the mask and trick-or-treat bag. No need for any pattern; a quarter and a luncheon plate are to be used as patterns to make this m&m costume!

GET YOUR AMERICAN GIRL DOLL READY TO GO TRICK OR TREATING. HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- White and green felt
- Orange and black Halloween fabric for bag
- Black thin ribbon for bag and mask
- Basic sewing supplies
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 1
Using a luncheon plate as your pattern, trace and cut two circles from green felt fabric.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 2
Sketch a lower case m on a piece of paper that measures about 4″.
Pin and cut one out of white felt.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 3
Pin the “m” to one of the green circles.
Sew around the outer edge of the “m.” You can use a zig-zag stitch or a straight stitch, whichever you prefer.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 4
Place the front and back of the m&m pieces together with the pretty sides showing.
Hold the m&m up to the doll and place pins at the shoulder points as shown in the photo.
You will not be sewing in-between the two pins. This is where the dolls head will fit to put the costume on.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 5
Then measure DOWN 2.5″ from each pin around the outer edge of the pumpkin and place another pin. Do this to both sides.
(You are creating a shoulder seam to hold the costume on with this step.)
Stitch the 2.5″ on each side of the green circle. Leave the top open for her head to go through.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 6
Cut across the top as shown in the pumpkin costume photo. (I forgot to take a picture of this step with the m&m costume, so I’m using the American Girl Doll Pumpkin Costume photo.) This will help make the outfit fit better on the doll.
IT IS NOW TIME TO MAKE THE AMERICAN GIRL DOLL MASK!
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 7
Trace the outer edge of a quarter on a piece of black scrap fabric.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 8
Leaving a 1/2″ space in-between trace another circle around a quarter as shown in the photo.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 9
Cut around each circle as shown to create a mask.
Cut little circles for the dolls eyes to see out of the center of each circle in the mask.
Pin and sew a piece of ribbon on each end of the mask as shown.

Your American girl doll’s Halloween mask is finished!
LET’S MAKE THE AMERICAN GIRL DOLL HALLOWEEN TRICK-OR-TREAT BAG!
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 11
Cut a piece of fabric measuring 4″x9″.
Fold both short ends toward the wrong side of the fabric 1/4″.
Stitch.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 12
Fold the bag in half pretty sides together.
Stitch along both sides.
M&M AMERICAN GIRL DOLL COSTUME – STEP 13
Turn the bag pretty side out.
Stitch a piece of ribbon on each side of the bag.
Your American girl dolls Trick-or-Treat bag is finished!
