Learn all about how to make a pumpkin costume for your American Girl Doll! You will learn how to make your lovely pumpkin costume, hat, mask, and bag all for your doll!

ANYONE WILL LOVE THIS PUMPKIN COSTUME AND ALL OF ITS ACCESSORIES FOR THEIR AMERICAN GIRL DOLL! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:
- black, orange, and green felt
- orange and black fabric for bag
- ribbon for bag, mask, and hat
- basic sewing supplies
Pumpkin American Girl Doll Costume – Step 1
First using a luncheon plate as your pattern, trace and cut 2 circles from orange felt fabric.
Pumpkin American Girl Doll Costume – Step 2
Next from black felt cut out the pumpkin face. Pin the pumpkin face pieces to one orange felt circle.
Pumpkin American Girl Doll Costume – Step 3
Next sew around the outer edge of the black pumpkin face pieces. Place the front and back of the pumpkin pieces together with the pretty sides showing. Hold the pumpkin up to the doll and place pins at the shoulder points as shown in the photo. You will not be sewing in-between the 2 pins. This is where the dolls head will fit to put the costume on.

Then measure DOWN 2.5″ from each pin around the outer edge of the pumpkin and place another pin. Do this to both sides. You are creating a shoulder seam to hold the costume on with this step.

As shown in the photo stitch the 2.5″ on each side of the pumpkin circle. Leave the top open for your doll’s head to go through. Cut across the top as shown in the photo. This will help make the costume fit better on the doll.
Mask for American Girl Doll Costume – Step 1
Trace the outer edge of a quarter on a piece of black scrap fabric.

Leaving a 1/2″ space in-between trace another circle around a quarter as shown in the photo.
Mask for American Girl Doll Costume – Step 3
Next cut around each circle as shown to create a mask. Then cut little circles for the dolls eyes to see out of the center of each circle in the mask. Pin and sew a piece of ribbon on each end of the mask as shown.

Your American girl doll’s Halloween mask is finished!
Bag for American Girl Doll Costume – Step 1
Now let’s begin your American Girl Trick-or-Treat bag! Cut a piece of fabric measuring 4″x9″. Fold both short ends toward the wrong side of the fabric 1/4″ and stitch.

Fold the bag in half pretty sides together and stitch along both sides.

Now turn bag pretty side out. Stitch a piece of ribbon on each side of bag.

Your American girl dolls Trick-or-Treat bag is finished!
American Girl Doll Pumpkin Hat – Step 1
Finally we are going to make a hat for your American Girl Doll costume! Cut a piece of green felt 6″x12″. Fold in half and pin and stitch the 6″ side as shown.
American Girl Doll Pumpkin Hat – Step 2
Turn hat pretty side out. Fold up one edge 1/2″. Slip on dolls head and tie a bow around the top.
