Before you can even begin to knit or cast on, you will need to know how to make a slipknot. This might be one of the most important steps because it is the very beginning of your knitting adventure.

BEFORE YOU CAN START KNITTING YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SLIP KNOT! HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE ONE:
- yarn
- knitting needles
Mastering the Slip Knot – Step 1
First place your yarn just like the photo into a pretzel shape. Leave about 8″ of yarn on the right as shown in the photo.

Next place one knitting needle through the yarn as shown in the photo.

Hold the knitting needle with your right hand. Pull both of the yarns with your left hand.
Mastering the Slip Knot – Step 4
Pull until you have a knot at the edge of the needle. There…you have just made a slipknot.
Now you can cast on and begin knitting!
