You Will Need a Bundt Cake Pan for this Cold Oven Orange Pound Cake:

To bake this yummy cake, I used:

  • 1 cup of butter at room temperature
  • 3 cups of sugar
  • 6 large eggs at room temperature
  • 3 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons fresh orange juice
  • zests of two medium oranges
  • pinch of salt

To make the perfect glaze for the top of this cake, I used:

  • 2 cups of confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice
  • zest of 1 orange

Orange Pound Cake Step 1:

Do not preheat the oven. This is called “Cold Oven Pound Cake” because it goes in a cold oven. Grease and flour the bottom, sides, and tube of a 9-inch tube bundt cake pan.

Orange Pound Cake Step 2:

Cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each egg. Add the orange juice and orange zest.

Orange Pound Cake Step 3:

On slow speed stir in the flour and heavy cream alternating each. Add the vanilla.

Orange Pound Cake Step 4:

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and put in a cold oven. Set the oven temperature to 325 degrees F. Begin timing now and bake the cake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Test to see if cake is done by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done. Cool cake in the pan for about 30 – 40 minutes. Then turn on a cake plate.

Orange Glaze Step 1:

In a small bowl mix all the ingredients for the orange glaze icing. Drizzle the glaze over the cake.

Here is what my final cake looked like! It was so delicious, and the orange glaze was an extra bonus to this dessert! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I have had this recipe bookmarked for quite a while now. I love pound cake and anything citrus. Was thinking that I would switch the orange to lemon since lemon is my favorite citrus in desserts. I may even make one of each, lol. Going to get the ingredients this week.
